【鹿城区】Spread Chinese voice better with “elephant stars”

A herd of Asian elephants migrating from Yunan to north area in early June has attracted numerous attention of the world’s mainstream media,such as the United Kingdom and the United States media, as well as media from India, Myanmar and other countries around Yunnan. While the international media and netizens are amused by elephants' cute playing,sleeping and wandering in the forest，a beautiful, confident，and environment-conscious country is demonstrated in front of them, which becomes the best advertising video of China at the background of severe situation of global COVID-19 epidemic.

It is significant that apart from the adorable behaviors of the elephants, a number of measures to soothe human-elephant conflict,including supplying the elephants with their favorite foods and water, indemnifying villagers against wildlife damages and setting up an alert system are praised highly by international media. Furthermore,nearby residents’ respect and care for the migrating elephants plays a vital role in gaining fans from other countries of the “elephant stars”. The series of preferential treatments for the elephants not only tells “a good story of China”to world that China would cost immense efforts to protect wild animals ,but also shows the China’s values of “community of common destiny”.

China has obtained world-acclaimed achievements in various aspects in nowadays,which contains massive good stories of China. However, the deficit between the inflow and outflow of information and the deep gap between the “real” China and how the country is perceived by the world leads to misunderstandings and prejudice of China. Therefore,to spread Chinese voice better is a significant task for China which would build trusts and dissolve misunderstandings.From this aspect,we can draw much lessons from “elephant stars”.

It is referenced that Chinese voice would be spread from common human emotion,such as yearning for beautiful nature, love of wild animals,and recognition of genuine effort. There are vast wonderful stories to be found in achievements of China’s ecological conservation, which needed deeper digging and better telling by media in a humanistic way. Additionally,“it takes a good blacksmith to forge food tools”--further international cooperation with a positive and inclusive attitude,improvement of environmental protection measures ,as well as being the leader of environmental issues is the foundation of telling China’s stories.In summary, more “elephant stars” of China are waiting to be discovered,which not only carries China’s voice further over the world, but also displays a real，responsible,beautiful country to the world.
