Poverty, a state of being poor. Being poor, you don’t have enough money for basic needs. Being poor, you can’t get medical help when you get ill. Being poor, you can’t receive education or even feed your stomach. Poverty is a nightmare for people in remote villages. Poverty is a devil sending people in prison. Poverty is a thief stealing children’s pure dreams. An old saying goes, money can’t buy happiness. However, the cruel truth is without money, people won’t be happy.

To get rid of poverty, couples in remote villages leave their hometown and seek for a job in big cities, leaving their young children at home waiting for them day and night. Such families are so common in western areas in China that only the elderly and children can be seen there. However, little money is earned by the couple despite their heavy work every month.

The turning point came when the Communist Party of China (CPC), guided by General Secretary Xi Jinping, led the people of all ethnic groups on targeted poverty alleviation, targeted poverty eradication, and building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects. People having left their hometown now are coming back and taking great effort to build a more beautiful hometown and thus earn a beautiful future.

The movie My People My Homeland in 2020 is put on the stage to praise the great changes happening in our homeland. I especially remember one part of the movie led by Deng Chao and Yan NI. The story takes place in a desert in Shanxi Province. This once barren desert is now green and lush because of the effective way to deal with the sand. Villagers work hard and plant apple trees there to get rich and sell their apples in a novel way - network broadcast. It is the great determination and responsibility of the villagers that get the place rid of poverty and develop well nowadays.

My hometown has the same fate as the place in the movie. Because it is near the sea, every summer thousands of visitors are attracted to come here and enjoy the beautiful beaches and taste the delicious seafood. Thanks to the policy and assistance from the government, we clean the road, build the highway and develop the tourism. Now, villagers no longer leave the hometown but stay and run a hotel or a restaurant to make a living.

The prosperity and strength of the motherland are sometimes not only reflected in high-tech development, or in urban development and construction, but also in people's life and people's living environment. Only when the people's living environment is getting better and better and their living conditions are getting better and better, can we truly reflect the strength and prosperity of the country. Now, poverty can never be a barrier for China to become a powerful country. We know how to build our homeland,and we know how to win a beautiful future.
