     "The Belt and Road" is the abbreviation of "Silk Road Economic Belt" and "21st Century Maritime Silk Road". In September and October 2013, President Xi Jinping proposed the development of these two initiatives. 2022 marks the ninth anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative. A better future is the dream of the whole world. China is committed to building a road of peace, prosperity, opening up, green, innovation, and civilization, helping to realize the dream of a better future for the world.

     The Belt and Road Initiative provides impetus for China's development. Since the joint construction of "the Belt and Road" initiative was put forward in 2013, trade between China and countries along the "Belt and Road" has become increasingly close. According to customs statistics, in the first quarter of this year, China’s imports and exports to countries along the “Belt and Road” reached 2.93 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 16.7%. Among them, exports were 1.64 trillion yuan, an increase of 16.2%; imports were 1.29 trillion yuan, an increase of 17.4%. Trade with economies alongside the Belt and Road rose 19.8 percent during the first seven months. This year, China's imports and exports have withstood the pressure, and the year-on-year growth rate has stepped out of the continuous recovery curve. This is inseparable from the opportunities provided by the Belt and Road platform. In Xinjiang, Urumqi has built the “Belt and Road” logistics distribution center, from the “end of the opening” to the forefront of the Silk Road; in Zhejiang, the “Maritime Silk Road” index compiled by the Ningbo Shipping Exchange has become the “wind vane” of the international shipping market, and has successfully landed Baltic Exchange... Thanks to the Belt and Road, many cities in China have been developed.

     The Belt and Road Initiative also creates opportunities for global development. Countries along the Belt and Road account for 29 percent of the world's economy and 63 percent of the world's population, less than half of the latter. This serious mismatch between economic aggregate and population highlights the huge demand gap and potential for the development of countries along the Belt and Road. Therefore, the Belt and Road Initiative originated in China and belongs to the world. It can turn China's opportunities into opportunities for the world. Through infrastructure development, China will provide the world with more public goods, bring better cooperation opportunities, and promote the realization of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. To combat COVID-19 and global economic recovery, China has provided more than 1.7 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccine to more than 110 countries and international organizations, most of which are co-sponsors of the Belt and Road Initiative. By the end of 2020, the cumulative trade volume between China and countries along the Belt and Road exceeded 9.2 trillion US dollars. Major projects such as the China-Laos Railway and the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway are progressing smoothly, demonstrating the strong capacity and high efficiency of China's engineering construction. According to the study, the Belt and Road Initiative will lift 7.6 million people out of extreme poverty and 32 million out of moderate poverty in relevant countries.

     On April 26, 2019, President Xi Jinping said in his keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation: "An ancient Chinese philosopher observed that ‘plants with strong roots grow well, and efforts with the right focus will ensure success.’ The Belt and Road cooperation embraces the historical trend of economic globalization, responds to the call for improving the global governance system and meets people's longing for a better life.” "The Belt and Road" initiative "originating from China and belonging to the world" is committed to realizing one world and one dream.
