【市卫健委】Win-Win Cooperation-Create A New Era of Global Development

     On 24 June 2022, the High-level Dialogue on Global Development was held during the 14th BRICS Summit. Focusing on the theme of "Foster a Global Development Partnership for the New Era to Jointly Implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development", the leaders discussed global development issues of common concern and reached broad consensus. There is no doubt that development is the key to achieving the happiness of the people, and only by following the development route can the peoples of all countries meet a better tomorrow.

     China has been making joint efforts with attending countries and the broader international community to create an international environment conducive to development. Facts have proved that by building a new type of international relations featuring mutual respect, fairness and justice, and win-win cooperation and carrying forward the common values of all mankind, we can promote global common development.

     Looking back at the 20th century, the world war has left mankind with deep disasters and painful lessons. World War I, which broke out in 1914, involved more than 30 countries, killing some 18.5 million people and causing more than $300 billion in economic losses. 20 years later, World War II broke out and finally lead to about 60 million deaths and economic losses of more than $4,000 billion. Thousands of years of human civilization have been almost destroyed, which has greatly affected the course of world development. The peoples of all counties come to realize the importance of peace and development.

     Since the 21st century, China has adhered to the path of peaceful development and put forward the idea of building a new type of major-country relationship and building a cooperative partnership. It is easy to find out that poverty reduction, food security, digital economy and other issues closely related to development issues require cooperation among countries to solve them. In the face of these problems, both developing and developed countries are a community of common destiny, which has long been the consensus of the international community. China's initiatives and actions play an important leading role in pushing the world toward a new international relations and order.

     At present, we are meeting at a time when the COVID-19 pandemic is eroding decades of gains in global development, the world has entered a grim moment of century-long great changes. Although the epidemic in China has been effectively controlled in the short term, the worldwide epidemic prevention and control is not. The most serious military conflict and confrontation in Europe after World War II has exacerbated the economic turmoil caused by the epidemic, and the world is at a crossroads of economic crisis or recovery. We believe that development is the key to solving all problems. Only shaping a global governance system and institutional environment that are more just and equitable, constantly advancing towards the aspirations of the peoples of all countries for peace and development can we create a development pattern of win-win cooperation and common prosperity.
