【龙湾区】The World’s Future Is in the Hand of Youth

     President Xi Jinping pointed out in his congratulatory letter to the World Youth Development Forum recently that young people from all countries should carry forward the common values of peace, development, fairness, justice, democracy, and freedom for all mankind, promote global development initiatives with actions, help implement the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and jointly write a new chapter in the era of solidarity and cooperation among the youth of the world.

     On the one hand, we have to arm the mind with the Marxist Theory. The philosophy has the idea that new things will eventually take the place of old things. As youth of the new era, we must get involved in the fight to old corrupted things. For this purpose, we should be proactive and do not be afraid of difficulty. Then, we should work hard for the great ambition: the liberating of the world.

     On the other hand, we have to make the world a better place with actions. Let us take a look at what young people around the world did: Liu Qishen, a student at Qinghua University, innovated a mini app called “Clean Plate” to cut down food waste. As the app requires, people who clean their plates will get reward points – these points are used for charitable donations. The 16-year-old Dutch boy created a jumbo funnel to collect marine garbage. The funnel has operated for 5 years, recycling litters of 7.25 million tons. He launched a program named “The Ocean Cleanup” to go ahead with his plan. Making the world a better place is the mission of every teenager. We must learn some useful skills and exercise them every day, and prepare ourselves well for meaningful things, such as fighting against for Covid-19, civilized practice in the new era and so forth.

     It is youth that creates the future. we should remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind. Let us be united together and fight for a better future wholeheartedly.
