【苍南县】Harmonious co-existence between human and nature

      Recently, the measures which taken by the government of China to deal with the Asian Elephants’ migration from Yunnan to north area have been highly praised. The migration has been led to the right route, which attributes to the rigorous and professional attitude of the government, the well-established compensation mechanism and the advanced infrared monitors.

      Although this migration is urgent, the previous experience plays an important role on it. The government of China has kept track of the Asian Elephants’ behaviors so that they can deal with emergencies promptly. From this case, the following measures should be adopted widely in wildlife habitats.

      Firstly, establishing a specialized team should be attached great importance. Because of the complexity and uncertainty of the migration, this team is supposed to consist of experts, polices and so on. They take responsibility for evacuation, the analysis of local topography and the direction of migration, and dispatch control. Secondly, advanced devices make remote monitoring and precaution possible. For example, thermal imager assists staffs to monitor the wildlife in shadow of the forest, even at night. Besides, UAV can achieve remote monitoring without interference and panic. Thirdly, by fooding and placing obstacles, the government guides the Asian Elephants naturally. Because of the uncertainty of the migration, it’s too dangerous if they walk into the residential community. Placing obstacles on the main road so that they have to walk toward the direction where is away from residents, the same as fooding. Fourthly, a serious of news on mainstream social media gives an objective but humorous attitude toward this case. To some extent, it relieves the hostility of residents on wildlife. Last but not least, the well-established compensation mechanism make up for the loss occurred by the wildlife. The houses and fields which destroyed by the wildlife should be repaired. It is reported that the government and the insurance companys bear the compensation in proportion.

      From the measures above, it’s evident that the response of Chinese government is timely and efficient. The incident can be solved in such a short time owe to organized and comprehensive arrangement, coordination of residents and the government, experience accumulated previously and so on. More than that, we can get some deeper implication.

      Harmonious co-existence between human and nature is the core idea which was proposed by President Xi. The community consists of human and animals where is transnational, integrated, symbiotic and diverse. Once the ecological equilibrium has been broken down, the damage will be irreversible. Take the whole world in view, there have been many disasters caused by it. Resulted from unreasonable and illegal transactions, some hunters hunt animals cruelly and immoderately. But the biological chain has its own rules, if one kind of animals is being on the verge of extinction, the amount of lower chain of animals will increase rapidly in decades. Finally, infinite growth will lead to the heavy load on the environment. Even worse, due to the lack of food, these animals will also face the risk of extinction.

      In conclusion, we are supposed to appeal that all countries protect the environment together, treat nature with respect for its own unfolding rhythms rather than plundering it. We are responsible to one another and the next generation.
