A five-episode science documentary series “Future Fantastic: China’s Science Revolution” directed by British director Christopher Riley was recently broadcast on Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific and Youku.

Five films profile 15 Chinese scientists and engineers, working at the top of their chosen fields in medicine, genetics, robotics, cosmology and planetary science. From deep sea to deep space, China is at the vanguard of human exploration. From reinventing food production, helping to feed nearly 8 billion people in the world, to tackling the diseases of old age and building a more sustainable society, China is showing the way. The innovative achievements of Chinese scientists not only shape the future of China, but also shape the future for the world.

The rise of China has created anxiety in other countries, as they have watched the growth of China’s scientific, economic, and commercial strength.
