Science always evolves in continuous innovation and competition. During this process some scientific achievements might become a story of the past during the passage of time, however the spirit of great scientists will always remain and grow more penetrating.

Extraordinary Future: A Story of Chinese Science that You Don’t Know is not just about China’s aspiring and ambitious scientific achievements, but also about the persistence, failure, tear, and dreams of Chinese scientists during the exploration journey. From improving crop production to feeding nearly 8 million people in the world, from conquering the diseases attacking human health to building a sustainable society, China is leading the way in science and technology development. From deep sea to the outer space, China is fighting on the frontline in exploring the unknown. The innovative achievements made by Chinese scientists are not only shaping the future of China but also the future of all mankind.

Recently the newly invented online phrase-“Good on China!”-has gone viral on the Internet. In view of the spurt of scientific and technological breakthroughs made by China, Chinese people are using this catchphrase to express their excitement and joy. To really make the world see the science and technology development in China and the academic achievements made by Chinese scholars, and to help overseas people to see a “genuine China” instead of a “falsified China”, we need to demonstrate the outstanding, confident, and persevering image of Chinese science workers truthfully to the world. There was a time when scientists such as Ouyang Zhiyuan, the father of Chang’e, Lin Baojun, the chief design engineer of Beidou satellites, and Pan Jianwei, the father of China’s quantum science, almost disappeared from public view. For a scientist, their lives are about the laboratory and they are always on their way to the laboratory and they have no intention to appear in the public. But how can a documentary about Chinese science make such a big stir overseas? For mass media, in addition to bearing in mind the media responsibility they also need to think. We have to wonder if it is true that scientists such as the “Chinese scientists group” have no popularity at all as shown in the documentary. And the answer is No. The Extraordinary Future: A Story of Chinese Science that You Don’t Know’s going viral has given us an answer and it has become an Encyclopedia dictionary of scientific progress made in China.

As stated in the opening statement of this documentary-“Today China has the highest increase in the number of new scientists in the world and is also leading the world’s science and technology. They are not only shaping the future of China but also the future of all mankind.”
