【鹿城区】The prosperous aerospace industry of China

      It is quite an amazing and exciting news to hear that China space station astronauts conducted their spacewalk outside China's new orbital station for the first time. July 4th is a new milestone for the grand celebration of China’s aerospace industry.

      It is also a good news for every Chinese because it is a giant progress with the great efforts made by Chinese scientists and staffs. The technological roots of aerospace industry was started in the late 1950s. At that time, China was beginning a ballistic missile program to face the threat of America. However, with the vicissitude of international affairs, China started the first crew space program a few decades later. After experiencing crucial political chaos, the aerospace program was restarted, which was a hard-won opportunity for China.

      On April 24th 1970, China launched its first artificial earth satellite, which made China the 5th country that is able to independently launch the satellite, right after the former Soviet Union, the United States of America, France and Japan. It was a great historical moment for China that would not be forgotten!

      As we know, the United States of America and Russia (the former Soviet Union) are the only two countries that able to conduct the human spaceflight while many other countries fail to achieve the goal. China, as a major country in the world, is taking its responsibility to develop the aerospace industry, facing many challenges along the way.

      With the accelerated technologies and great effort, in 2003, Yang Liwei, the first Chinese astronaut successfully took the flight Shenzhou 5 and managed to return to earth a few hours later. The successful trial made China the third country independently send humans into space. It is a historical progress. Since then, China has made continuous progress in space industry. More astronauts have been sent to space, including two female astronauts, which is unprecedented in China.

      The tenet of Chinese astronomy is to explore the outer space, expand the knowledge of the earth and the universe, make use of the space peacefully, making contributions to the progress of human civilization and society, meet the demand of economic construction, scientific and technological development, national security, improve the comprehensive national strength. Therefore, China is moving towards the tenet and keeping its promise.

      Back to now, China is creating another miracle. Three astronauts, Nie Haisheng, Liu Boming and Yang Hongbo were sent into the space station. While Nie was staying inside the cabin, Liu and Yang walked out of the space cabin for nearly 7 hours. When astronauts see the view with their own eyes instead of the cameras, the view is quite beautiful and meaningful, because it represented the great progress made by Chinese astronauts, scientists and staffs from China National Space Administration.

      The first spacewalk for Chinese astronauts is another new beginning for China’s aerospace industry, a permanent Chinese space station is planned in 2022 and crewed expeditions to the Moon and interplanetary missions to explore the Solar System and beyond, like USA. We firmly believe that China will continue to make progress and it is a great pride for Chinese people.
