【永嘉县】Many hands make light work

     The Belt and Road Initiative, a foreign policy initiated by China in 2013, is to enhance the economic condition of the country through the development of international relationships. The primary significance of the Initiative is of its economic connotation, and then comes the political influence. "Peace and cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning and mutual benefit" has been the Silk Road Spirit for generations, contributing greatly to the prosperity and development of the countries along the route. In the 21st century, confronted with complicated international and regional situations, Chinese government believe though China can get improved with the efforts of the whole country, it may be not easy for China to go far itself. As an old saying goes, many hands make light work. Thus, countries have to get united and develop in teams. The aim of China is to connect the east Asia with developed European countries along the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road so as to create the most extended and largest-scaled platform for economy cooperation of the Eurasian Continent.

     However, since the Belt and Road Initiative was initiated, some western politicians deliberately doubted China’s intention and started to discredit the Initiative unreasonably, asserting that China was going to exploit resources of other countries and would seek hegemony in the near future. But time will tell everything. In the first half of this year, the statistics show the remarkable increase in trade value of goods between China and countries along the route, non-financial direct investment in countries along the route and the actual investment in China by countries along the route, which again confirms the development and mutual benefit brought by the Belt and Road Initiative. China is not the only winner. The countries along the route gain development in their economy as China does. It is proved that the Belt and Road Initiative meets the common ideals and interests of the world community and will contribute greatly to the prosperity and development of the countries along the route. These countries will hold more hope and feel more confident of their choice to believe in China and its original intention. They will better carry on the Silk Road Spirit and create more wealth.

     To sum up, the joint efforts of the Belt and Road Initiative are paying off. Not only does it practice its economic connotation, but also improves China’s international influence.
